Cycles and Similarities

I don't think there is really such a thing as coincidence. I think everything has a purpose. Some, perhaps, deeper than others. So, I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep tonight over the meaning of the observation I'm going to make. Any loss of sleep tonight is already credited to the white paper I am writing. But I do find it curious how something bizarre occurs, and then is followed by more similar incidents. Case in point:

Today, there has been headline news (meaning I've seen it on the Google Top Stories widget) about a tiger mauling in San Francisco. I'm sure it has been on television news and maybe in some papers, too. In fact, I do think I saw a story this morning, either in passing or before fully conscious. Nevertheless, a story about a tiger mauling, or, in fact, a story about a tiger is fairly uncommon. Then, out of nowhere (meaning I don't usually check the site, but do have a toolbar button pointing at it, generally for weather or traffic, and just decided to click on it for a mental break to check the news) I see on the local news station's website that a dead tiger was found on the streets of Dallas on the 25th. Completely unrelated to the mauling.

Except that they are both bizarre tiger stories that are so intrinsically uncommon one would not expect to see two in one day. It is enough to send one into a Steven-Colbert-Like-Bear-Type Alert warning America about tigers. Or it could be a media conspiracy feeding me information about tigers that demographics indicate that I would be interested in. Who knows, it could just be a coincidence. But I don't believe in those. Don't think it is too significant, though. Just in case, I've added tigers to the inaugural threat matrix.

Peace!
